Last competition of 2017

Our second Quarterly Print competition was very ably judged by Andy Smith LRPS whose comments were very well received by the members. In Group 1 the winner was Terry Scales with his image The Surfboat Memorial and in Group 2 Laura Drury was the winner with Coloured Houses in Ross-0n-Wye. PDI versions of the prints were projected so that members could more easily see the detail of each image. This was an experiment which may or may not be repeated and the committee would be pleased to hear any feedback from members.

Alternative Photographic Processes

Our published speaker was unable to be with us but we were not disappointed as our own member David Silk brought forward his talk on alternative photographic processes. David’s impressive knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject came across loud and clear and he made the whole evening an enjoyable experience. We were priviledged to be able to see first hand some examples of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tin plates and glass plates. David showed us various very old cameras and also some examples of photographs he had taken with them.
