2nd Quarter Print

Ray Bridges LRPS CPAGB ADPS BPE3* was the judge for our second Quarterly Print Competition. The winner in the Advanced Group was Cherry Larcombe with "Yellow and Green". Second was Jean Seddon with "Single Tulip Mono" and third was Terry Scales with "Deal Pier and Beyond from the Westcliffe Ramsgate". In the Intermediate Group Carwyn Mills was the winner with "Portrait of a Mandrill" with Steve Hewitt taking the second and third places with "Hidden Spider Backlit Leaf" and "Round the Oasts".

The life of Lee Miller

"Possibly the best speaker in 30 years!" This was a comment made by one of our most valued members, David Silk, when he gave a vote of thanks to Antony Penrose who was our speaker last Monday. Antony presented the life of his mother, Lee Miller, and his father, Roland Penrose. Lee, a model and photographer, and Roland, were close friends of many famous artists such as Picasso, and Antony's talk told of many personal stories illustrated with pictures taken by Lee and Roland and others such as Man Ray and Picasso himself.
