THANET’S CAMERA CLUB

NEWS RELEASE NOVEMBER 2019

The great start to our season continues, with our annual exhibition held in Ramsgate in October attracting a record number of entries and lots of interest from visitors.  In 2020 we’re the exhibition will be held for a week in June but still at York Street Gallery in Ramsgate.

The club has welcomed many new members so far and we were delighted that one of them, Eddie Bradley, came top of the Intermediate group in our first quarterly digital image competition with his black and white photo entitled “Gone Surfing”.  Mike Aubry topped the Advanced group with his image called “Airobics”.

Janine Ball was our guest speaker at the first meeting in November, on the topic of “Composite Tips and Tricks”.  Ms Ball gave a masterclass in how to produce composite images often from the most basic original, using a range of techniques and software to create some dynamic and unusual photos.  An inspirational evening and club members will no doubt be experimenting with entries for forthcoming competitions.

Our next challenge is on the subject of “Song or Film Titles” which will be judged by Di Long and in December we’ll be continuing our skills training with an evening dedicated to “Intentional Camera Movement”.

New members welcome.  We meet Mondays at 19.30 hours, Ramsgate Football Club, Kent CT11 0AN. Full details about membership and the programme can be found at www.isleofthanetphotographicsociety.co.uk and on Facebook.
