Alternative Photographic Processes

Our published speaker was unable to be with us but we were not disappointed as our own member David Silk brought forward his talk on alternative photographic processes. David’s impressive knowledge and enthusiasm for his subject came across loud and clear and he made the whole evening an enjoyable experience. We were priviledged to be able to see first hand some examples of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, tin plates and glass plates. David showed us various very old cameras and also some examples of photographs he had taken with them. In the second half David concentrated on demonstrating how to create cyanotypes and brought some already prepared photographic paper so that some of us were able to actually produce some pictures. A very inspiring evening. Thank you David.
