A double loss for IOTPS

Our club is sad at the passing of two long standing members, Mick Talbot and Alan Crisp. Mick has not attended for a while because of ill health. Although Mick was not ever a committee member, he did a lot for the club such as hosting barbecues/photo evenings at his bungalow in Broadstairs. David Silk remembers Mick’s photo competitions at Christmas which were always well received. He also on many occasions helped select club entries into battles and other competitions in East Kent. A few year's ago Mick donated a very large cup to the club which is called "The Mick Talbot Trophy" and this is awarded annually to the winner of a competition, the subject of which Mick asked should be selected by the committee. We were shocked and saddened to hear of the very unexpected passing of Alan, who was one of the most cheerful and friendly members of the club. David Silk said, " I had many memorable photo excursions with Alan, which were always marked by their hilarious events. Stopping in Hastings on one day out we decided to have fish and chips on the seafront. Thinking we could get a good action shot of a seagull, we proceeded to throw a chip into the air. Little did we realise that every seagull in Hastings would then descend and help themselves to our dinner!". In recent times, Alan really enjoyed his role at club, which he took very seriously, providing us all with cups of tea and coffee during the break. Always with a laugh and a smile.

Two members who will be remembered by us all and we thank them both for their contribution.
